Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Donates 16,000 Books to the Charles C. Yancey Book Fair
BOSTON — April 7, 2009 — Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt joins City Councillor Charles Yancey in promoting literacy to the children of greater Boston. The Company donated 16,000 new young adult and children's books, which were distributed to attendees of the twenty-third annual Charles C. Yancey Book Fair.
"We are happy to provide additional learning opportunities to students outside the classroom," said Group Chairman Barry O'Callaghan, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. "By putting a book in the hands of our children, we encourage literacy and a lifelong love of reading."
"Our city's future depends upon our children's education," said City Councillor Charles Yancey. "I am thankful for such companies as Houghton Mifflin Harcourt that serve as good corporate citizens and give back to our community and, most importantly, to our youth."
The book fair took place last Saturday, April 4, in Dorchester, with more than 1,000 families in attendance.
